Well they asked what I thought they should do, and I answered. But if you’re referring to the friend thing, I would advise that anon to- if they feel like they absolutely cannot continue being a vegetarian- just talk to their friend about how they feel. Explain the reasons he/she doesn’t want to be a vegetarian anymore. Ask their friend to respect his or her choice not to be a vegetarian the same way that their friends asks others to respect their own choice to be a vegetarian. Be patient and understanding, general advice for all situations, but still.
